Much of our history reflects economic interactions with the United States and development that serves the United States, rather than investing back into our country for Canadian's best interests. One major area of investment that would be beneficial to Canadians would be in environmental concerns, such as our pressing issue of contaminated water.

Consumers and animals are affected by extreme measures; measures such as injections of hormones and antibiotics. Resorting to such measures have direct negative implications that have affected not only business and people but the environment. Using pesticides to develop an immensity of products hurt our earth. The soil is rich in many nutrients and energy as well as organisms. Polluting and exploiting land, rich in soil, imposes a great risk to our earth. Ultimately this destruction is encouraged by the control and agenda of political competitors. Competition in a global market economy has led to such extremes that are detrimental to all. Organic produce and vegetarianism are a growing popular method of consumption. Perhaps this is an indication that many are understanding the need for old world wisdom and implementation of the like.

Interconnection

Post-agrarian societies no longer rely on agricultural practices or division of land. With a focus on education and a democratic ideology- control increases. As a result, people experience a loss of identity. In order to refrain from resisting such loss, it is necessary that people uphold traditions. History has provided insight into nations that have remained connected. These nations have held onto rituals and traditions such as song or story. Memory and self-awareness enables people to remain strong in culture, in the face of political control.

Following the principle of moderate consumption is a positive start to our environmental contribution. There are five ways to contribute: how we extract, produce, distribute, consume, and dispose of our products. We must be careful how we approach these contributions. A thoughtful and precious concern for our environment; will encourage a positive, clean, and green earth.

Abstract Love

The law of love guides our behaviour and shapes our standard of life. This deeper desire to connect with one another is embedded in our DNA. Socially we are intertwined and our affection to one another is an unspoken language. It is through language of love and our senses that our people are conserved, as we are in nature. Dedication to love should guide us in our innovations to protect and sustain our existence. Without a functional environmental landscape in which we connect, people cannot sustain love. Growing populations and environmental challenges are a threat to our senses and existence.

Searching for Nature

Easter Islands demise has many interpretations as to why the culture fell. It is believed that the construction and movement of the large Moai statues had devastated the land. Resources were trampled on at the expense of the people’s personal desire rather than necessity. Perhaps the Easter Islands demise is an analogy to reflect modern day societies; a society that could be subject to the same demise. Instead of statues, today it is a matter of wealth, prestige and power- with decisions made not for the well being of our people but for the purpose of gain and self-interest.
